Here’s the thing, I am a Dylan O’Brien stan, so no matter how cheesy or bad this was going to be, I was going to watch it. Though this wasn’t an award-winning film of the year, it is certified fresh by rotten tomatoes, so take that as you will. In Love and Monsters, we enter our world seven years after a monsterpocalypse. The only safe space for humanity is underground, where Joel Dawson has been living with his cohort. Joel can’t help missing and constantly thinking about his pre-apocalypse love Aimee. The only issue is she is stationed at a cohort 80 miles from his underground safe haven. Despite the dangerous monsters that lurk above ground, and Joel’s lack of any self defense skills, he decides to make the 80-mile trek. As you can assume adventure and chaos ensues. Dylan O’Brien plays his classic goofy, clueless boy character that we have all grown to adore (or is that just me). Joel also picks up a wonderful canine sidekick, so DOB and dogs, what’s not to like?! If you are looking for something light, a little sci-fi, a little cheesy, give this one a go and share your thoughts with me!
