The disk I borrowed skipped horribly and had no closed captioning. I'm not sure what I missed, but as near as I can determine, this is a story of mental illness--perhaps longstanding depression or perhaps psychosis from prolonged isolation. The director makes every possible effort to prevent you figuring that out. The two up sides are 1) despite all the mumbling and without being able to determine if a scene is real or an hallucination, you get the clear picture he loved his children and 2) there is some pretty scenery.
