Reviews from Amazon.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.0 of 5 stars "Great reference/resource for learning about mind-gut connection as a way to improve your health." If you’re interested in how our gut and our brains interact, this is a good book with which to begin your research. To me it’s the practical advice (such as reviewing various probiotic products) that I read most carefully (You may, like myself, find yourself skipping around the book.). In case you, too, were unfamiliar with the term "Psychobiotics" it means (per the very useful Glossary): "These are microbes that, taken in sufficient quantities, yield positive psychiatric effects and can improve mental health, including depression and anxiety.") The Appendix contains information on "Proven Probiotic Bacteria and Products" and to me, this alone made the book worth my time to read. I can say that what I've read so far seems in line with related topic books by doctors. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.0 of 5 stars "Book's subtitle sums it up: "Mood, Food and the New Science of the Gut-Brain Connection." If you've ever had any GI tract issues, suffer from depression or anxiety, this is a very good way to begin the path to better choices and better health. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.0 of 5 stars “Entertaining narrative with life changing information for scientists, doctors, and regular folks.” Anderson has rediscovered, clarified, and solidified the new and exciting field of psychobiotics. Definitely the best book out on the subject, which he covers in simple but entertaining detail and he includes historical case studies. Perhaps the gut is not the most glamorous topic to write about, but the impact on our daily lives cannot be understated. Don't pass up improving your life and the lives of your loved ones with the insight available in this book. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.0 of 5 stars “Excellent book on connection between our gut and rest of our body.” Excellent book on the connection between our gut and the rest of our body and how we should eat a variety of foods, epecially vegetables, to satisfy our gut bacteria so that we can be well. No review can really convey the full importance this book, so please get the book and you'll receive an excellent education on the importance of a healthy gut where 60% to 70% of our immune system reside. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.0 of 5 stars “Highly recommend.” Written clear and concise, up to the minute science. Highly recommend. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.0 of 5 stars “Five Stars.” It's very interesting and keeps your interest. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.0 of 5 stars “Useful information and written so the common person can understand it.” "The Psychobiotic Revolution" is about how certain gut microbes positively or negatively affect your mood and what you can do about it. The main author wrote in a mildly humorous way and for the common person. While he'd use scientific terms, he immediately defined or described what those terms meant. The other two authors are people actively doing research in this field. They double-checked the content of the book and were occasionally quoted when explaining something they've discovered.
