on the first day of Kindergarten, six kids go missing. they vanish without a trace. 10 years later, only five them come back. where is the sixth child and why do the other five have ZERO recollection of what happened in those 10 years? so is the mystery surrounding The Leaving. told in alternative chapters from two of the missing children: Lucas and Scarlett, and the sister of the child who doesn't return: Avery; the reader slowly but surely uncovers the mysteries of what happened the day that they vanished. i was hooked from the very beginning, great pace, lots of mystery, but once i got to the end, i was a littler underwhelmed. i thought the ending would be a bit more complex, but mostly i was like "that's it?" overall, though, it's still good enough that i would recommend it. good book to get lost in when you're sitting poolside.
