This novel drew me in because of its' subject matter, the Female spy networks which had a tremendous impact on both World Wars and yet are rarely given the respect & honour such bravery desires. I feel that Kate being a consummate storyteller imbued this novel with suspense and tension while highlighting and lauding little-known facts and atmospherically bringing this bygone era to life on the page. However, I was a little let down by the quite modern dialogue of one of the protagonists, which didn't conjure the late 40's and at times worked against it creating a chasm that drew me out of the story. Overall an enjoyable and juicy read perfect for the lazy, hazy days of Summer.
