Overall I was quite satisfied with this book, it had a compelling and gave a unique twist to the original story of One thousand and one nights. The pacing was a bit slow for me, since it's quite a big novel. I personally liked characters like Shazi's younger sister and how the plot also focused more than just the two main characters. The new characters were mysterious and definitely added solid extra material. This book has decent romance, adventure and action. I really liked the ending too as it solidly wrapped up the story. There are also some really good elements of plot twist though out to keep the reader alert and engaged. I think that the book could honestly have some parts of it cut out and the story would have relatively stayed the same. There are still some unanswered questions too that need some explaining. And even though the epilogue was a nice finishing touch, I still hoped that there could be a bit more clarification for certain events for minor characters like Shazi's father and Tariq. I rate this book as decent - V.D
