Spoke Jonze's take on our present state of digital social media alienation. I found the first part of the movie hilarious. A snapshot of just how insulated, clueless, vain the young urban elite are. The second part of the film the director reveals ambitions much more grandiose than lampooning hipster ennui. Jonze poses a question, much as the filmmakers of THE LOBSTER do, regarding the inherent irrationality of the very foundation of civilization, the monogamous sexual relationship. At the same time he shines a light on the power of the surveillance state (hint: it's based on our infantile narcissism), not to mention the possibilities of an evolving artificial intelligence.
