From reading the summary on the back of the book I was very excited to see Dex's story unfold and see if he could survive this unsurvivable situation. Sadly I was disappointed not on plot but how the story was told. Dex shifts his thoughts very quickly between thoughts of a stoner and thoughts of being a guilt reddened depressed teenager. To be very frank the book in how it's written is kind of shitty. But the fact that Dex is in such situation, which would make the average person either kill themselves or change their name and move away leaving his family behind, makes the reader want to keep reading. I can relate it to an ASPCA commercial, you hate the bullshit music of the commericial and some of those animals look like the childhood pets you had but your parents told you they ran away, but you still have an ounce of humanity that makes you want to help or in this case see how the story ends. It is a tale of finding who you are and a tale of survival.
