Yarn Bombing

the Art of Crochet and Knit Graffiti
Dec 10, 2009lsj rated this title 4 out of 5 stars
An enjoyable book about a strangely subversive activity: creating knitwear pieces for objects like sign posts, statues, and fences to humanize urban landscapes. Good coffee table book with lots of gorgeously-shot examples of yarn bombing in the community, and more expansive fibre art installations like the Italian Bunny. Tongue-in-cheek humour comparing knitters to hip-hop ninjas. What elevates this book beyond the coffee table is the instructions for how to start your own yarn bombing crew. Don't be surprised if you see yarn bombing popping up in Ottawa over the next few months. In fact Ottawa's own Spins'n'Needles will be doing an installation as part of Winterlude!
