"Moonwalk" was written by a 30-year-old Michael Jackson shortly after the release of his chart-topping album "Bad" in 1987. At this point in time Jackson was at the absolute peak of his music career. This was also the time when he was undergoing a number of cosmetic-surgery operations. As well - Questions regarding his sexuality were being brought to the attention of the ever-curious public. Though Michael does not address the issue of his gender preference in "Moonwalk", he does vaguely touch on the subject of his drastic weight loss and facial reconstruction. For the most part, Jackson tells us in "Moonwalk" about being a performer whose love of his music and the adoration of his fans were the two most important things of all to him. Personally, I found "Moonwalk" to be a very simple and direct story from Jackson who was just beginning to feel the stress and anxiety that, unfortunately, came along with the price of being a world-celebrated superstar. ..... And, of course, the remainder of Michael Jackson's life (we all know now) is history.
