Quite a readable account about a wonderfully interesting period of the American story often over-looked: those quiet decades between the Revolution and the Civil War.
It's a great story about the development of the great transportation networks and, as the author makes clear, Vanderbilt's story and storied fortune runs right through it like a bright thread in a tapestry. I really enjoyed this book.
