Add a CommentThis was a good mystery with interviews of the suspects forming a bond of the main couple. There is little romance in the book and only lays the foundation for Keira and Gage for the next book. I enjoyed it but felt little chemistry between the main characters romantically. Will continue with the series.
If anyone wonders what an Aspie (HFA) woman thinks like, Lady Darby is spot on.
This is a good book to read on a rainy day with a cat in your lap and a cup of tea on the table next to you. The first in the Lady Darby series, this novel introduces us to a female detective with an unconventional backstory. Mystery, and a touch of romance!
I haven't finished reading this book, yet. It was described as Jane Austen-like. No, it is not. It is merely set in the 1830s. This story could be easily set in the 1970s with a snow storm, phone lines being down and a lack of electronic communication. I'm sure I will enjoy the book, however when your taste is set for tea and you get soda, it's quite a shock.
Excellent start to a new series. Kristi & Abby Tabby
It was interesting to have the main character be an outcast of society. Her being the "obvious" murderer in the party only adds to her being the target of people's malicious comments. The plot was different, and therefore intriguing. Enjoyed it! Looking forward to the next book in the series!
This was a great mystery novel that will appeal to fans that like a little character drama thrown into the mix. Lady Darby is a controversial woman and it was awesome to have a woman do some detective work. Loved the animosity between Lady Darby and Sebastian Gage - looking forward to seeing more of the two in the next one!
