This Lovecraft adaptation is all sorts of shades of messed up! I liked it's weirdness a lot.

don't know how old these other reviewers are, maybe 10 to 12 years old?....this movie is a disaster.....ever wondered what a fallen A-list actor is doing?..Nick Cage absolutely SUCKS in this twisted version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers..(original version is the best)….However I did like the final few minutes...JUST BECAUSE IT WAS OVER....

A good use of lighting, color, and creature design to do cosmic horror. It's good to see a movie lean into the weird for a weird fiction adaptation.

.
HP Lovecraft's writing + Nic Cage's overacting SHOULD be a recipe for disaster but somehow this manages to be a decent, creepy horror movie.

I was able to catch this on a limited release in the theater and hehe whoa. This is a cult film in the making in my opinion as an adaptation of a H.P. Lovecraft story. Solid portrayals of a family coping with the problems life changes that create setbacks to feeling happy and safe both in their traditional roles as well as collective stability...oh, and space madness. The taint of "Elder Gods" is subtler here as tension builds carefully like a boiling pot till it overflows... Worth watching if you like 'what the heck' moments. This is Nicolas Cage as a man barely holding on (which personally I think is his strong suit) as he walks the tight rope that could be overacting in any other case. The other cast members are enjoyable and carry themselves well in a more grounding sense. Tommy Chong ftw! Not for everyone understandably. I'm sure the detractors will have a field-day pointing out how not an 'Oscar type movie' it is, like they're sooo intellectual. Meant to be a wild fun movie enjoyed for something different with some decent special effects and novel plot.
