Add a CommentI was expecting some interesting gender politics, but there were none, at least in the first few episodes, and I lost interest. Also there was something wrong with the sound design which made it difficult to follow the dialogue.
This is a good book! And I am still listening to the playaway - I love hearing some of my favorite lines from the miniseries. However, this particular narrator is not the best. She doesn't really feel like the characters - she's just reading. Also, this is an early playaway version = very choppy recording and is likely to shut off at any time.
great for the whole family.
lovely book for everyone
A classic that should be a required read for every girl despite Anne's whininess; she manages to display a feminism and gentileness that would soften any heart.
The book is 5 stars, but the narration is not perfect. Her voice for Marilla is excellent, but her voice for Anne is way off - like a middle-aged Anne.
A classic, of course, and good whether its the first or tenth time you've read it. Anne if bright and cheery and as long as you are comfortable reading in the style of LM Montgomery, the story will simply suck you in.
My 5 year old daughter loves listening to this.
