LOVE CAN BE LOST
Grace Stanton's life as a rising star in the world of lifestyle bloggers takes a surprising turn when she catches her husband cheating--and drives his pricey sports car straight into the family swimming pool. Grace suddenly finds herself locked out of her palatial home, checking account, and even the blog she has worked so hard to develop in her signature style. So now what?
BUT FRIENDSHIP LASTS FOREVER
Moving in with her widowed mother, who owns and lives above a rundown beach bar called The Sandbox, is less than ideal. So is attending court-mandated weekly "divorce recovery" therapy sessions with three other women. When their "divorce coach" starts to act suspiciously, they decide to start having their own Wednesday evening "Ladies' Night" sessions at The Sandbox, and the unanticipated bonds that develop lead the members of the group to try and find closure in ways they never imagined. Can Grace figure out a new way home and discover how strong she needs to be to get there?

I adore Mary Kay Andrews, AKA Kathy Trocheck, and reading Ladies' Night was like returning home. It was really nice to be comforted by the familiar writing style and characters I quickly came to love during all the chaos of my recent move. This one takes place in Florida, in a fictional area near Bradenton. Mary Kay's love for junking, decorating, and cooking shine here as we follow Grace through the aftermath of her unfortunate choice to drive her cheating husband's convertible into a pool. A subplot has Grace adopting a dog in need, which of course, just makes us love her more. As always, Andrews is funny, sharp, bright, and yet still asks the reader to seriously consider her own feelings about the topic at hand. Keep 'em coming!

this book started out banal, but quickly became a page turner.

Any Mary Kay Andrews title is a perfect summer beach read. Well drawn characters who overcome difficult situations with a twist or two along the way. Just when I think I have the next step figured out, Andrews throws a plot curve. Come meet the ladies who must attend a court-mandated divorce recovery group. Uncovering secrets, wreaking revenge, and doling out justice are just a few of their "activities". Andrews always leaves her readers with a satisfactory ending.

Sometimes Ms. Andrews' novels start out like "The Ladies Home Journal" female sob stories. I have found that if I persevere, they morph into strong feminist tracts with interesting real estate subplots. After Grace Stanton learns her husband has cheated on her and stolen her successful home design blog, she moves back in with her mother and discovers a real estate gem that needs rehabbing during her daily exercise run. Grace also shows a lot of courage during her "divorce camp" group sessions-cum-adventures. I enjoyed this book.

I felt the story was rather long and drawn out... I usually read a book pretty quickly, but this one did not hold my attention. If you have not been through a divorce, you would probably not find this book of much interest even though it is fiction. It is definitely NOT one of those books that you can't put down... I was rather disappointed...

I guess this is what people refer to as a beach read. It is fun but it still deals with some serious emotions. I liked the characters.
