Turn off the noise, turn on the quiet, advises Diana Krall as she continues her mastery of the Great American Songbook. I wholeheartedly agree.

Diana Krall, the two-tempo Diva: either hurdy-gurdy or Peggy Lee on Valium? Many years ago, LOVED her d├ębut CD All for You, a tribute to Nat King Cole, HIGHLY recommended still for those who think she's great; after that, more of the same, which is a shame, since she has a great voice and piano chops to match... Maybe she should ditch Lipuma and get more adventurous & creative, musically speaking?

Lovely stuff (as usual) from Ms. Krall. Enjoy with a loved one over dinner.

This is my introduction to Diana Krall. Love this album! She's got such a sultry, velvety, sexy voice. I think "Sway" is my favorite cut.

Listen to this album today in hoopla. https://www.hoopladigital.com/title/11882277
"Her voice often operates at a hushed whisper -- a decision that suits this collection of romantic, dreamy material; it also underscores the importance of the record's title -- and that emphasizes her lithe piano along with the solo spotlights from her featured musicians. Krall gives her three bands plenty of space to shine -- fiddler Stuart Duncan, in particular, stuns with his solo on "I'll See You in My Dreams," but there are nice turns from guitarists Russell Malone, Anthony Wilson, and Marc Ribot, along with supple playing by bassists Christian McBride, Tony Garnier, and Anthony Wilson -- but what impresses is how these ensembles are all united in spirit and attitude, all thanks to their leader." I like Diana Krall and her voice. Though I do not consider this her best album, I appreciate that she is still doing her craft. "Turn Up the Quiet" was a title that threw me off a bit because I thought that the songs would be fast paced. Many of the songs were slow and I didn't feel the same amount of energy as her songs from the past. I didn't mind though, she has her entire career to sing. Her voice still sounds the same only more mature. I am excited to see what albums she will create in the future.
