This quiet movie is small on words and big on emotional impact. The slow pace serves to heighten the tension in each scene, and the four lead actors (Laura Dern, Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams and Lily Gladstone) are phenomenal. The style, setting and themes are reminiscent of Brokeback Mountain.

Should have been titled "At least one semi-interesting thing happens in the mundane lives of certain women ..."

I have a high tolerance for "different" movies and often like what others abhor. But I kept watching this waiting for something to happen. It's WAAAAAAY too slow and pointless. I watched the whole thing expecting something to happen, but nothing ever did. I can't get back that hour and 46 minutes.

The range of comments here is a reminder that what you bring to a movie will in large part determine what you take from it. Kelly Reichardt has written and directed another fine film. It's a triptych of stories focused on four women in rural Montana, wonderfully elliptical and understated. The principal players are all good (as you would expect with this cast), but the standout is newcomer Lily Gladstone. What she does with her face and features is amazing, as she seeks to make a connection with Kristen Stewart in the last episode. If you liked Reichardt's "Wendy and Lucy", don't miss this film.

A return to form for Kelly Reichardt after her last couple of films- based on the stories of Maile Maloy- I found the film to have a Raymond Carver-esque tone to it- which is a good thing in my book. Stellar acting all around.

I wanted to like it. I can get into indy or foreign films that are quiet. tender and deep. This one though... sorry, just too little to go on I am afraid to say. Just not enough.

Just like any other movie that has won film festival awards this one stunk. It should have been a clear winner of the Snorefest Award.

There were many comments from people who viewed this movie, that have, unfortunately, since been deleted....Horrible movie!! Don't waste your time!! Absolutely NO storyline whatsoever!! BORING, BORING, BORING!!!

If the point of this movie was to paint the life as repetitive and lonely, bleak like winter landscapes, than it succeeded.... Otherwise, it's flat and unmoving.

it's all about the small moments, the quiet, and the silences
I like all of Reichardt's films
