In this wakeup call for parents about the real world boys inhabit right now, Bloom explains how to teach your boy humility (the swagger anti-venom), to make your home a reading mecca, create an expectation of college graduation, and how to teach your boy to be critical of the media onslaught in his life.

Looking for parenting audio books for my commute, I found this... and hated it. The first 40+ minutes is nothing but a bombardment of depressing statistics and negativity. This may be true, but I prefer to look at life from a strengths-based perpective... fear and negativity may fit in somewhere, but my focus is on what is working, what I can promote and support to build in more of what my boys will need. If there is useful guidance in this book, I couldn't swim through the concrete to get to it.
