Scrappy, stubborn and strong, the Gallaghers are tested by changing times, but Season Six finds them older, wiser, and better at playing the system. Used to their natural state of chaos, the Gallaghers are as surprised as anyone at how life is turning out for them. But as they come into their own and find out who they really are is it really possible that they could grow apart for good?

I am in agreement with the commentator below. SHAMELESS has established a pattern, like a distance runner who hangs at the back of the pack only to win the race with an astonishing kick the last 400 meters -- the first several episodes shamble along until things get cooking. With season six the wait takes until the last three or four episodes. Then, with Frank relocated to an aging Hippie commune that doubles as a farm for opium poppies, it's blast-off time. If you think you have seen the outer limits of Frank's depravity, take a gander at the last episode.

I love this show. This season started in a way that made me think the writers were a little out of ideas but by the end of the season I was once again hooked.
