In my opinion the M83 album I like the most.
Tracks 2 & 9 are golden! The rest of the album is still pretty great, but not as dreamy & spacey as previous albums, but still very M83.
I've been trying to figure out if the title is ironic or not. Not the usual M83 goodness, but there are one or two stand-outs.
Not what most expected the latest M83 album to sound like, myself included. However, there are some fun, silly songs on this record that I've grown to like a lot.
I think I just really like the sound and approach of this group. This CD isn't as much of a breakthrough as their previous one but I found it really enjoyable nevertheless.
I wasn't that impressed with the album at first, but now that I have had time to digest everything, I think it's their best yet. The song are complex enough that they are easily repeatable. If your not feeling it, try Road Blasters since that is the mostly like Midnight City. Overall, a very consistent and fun album.
Not horrible, but I much prefer the 80s 4AD/shoegaze roots of their earlier albums to their current sound.
