Creative, passionate and powerful. Voice like Waylon Jennings, but music is rock/country, almost art rock. Amazing album if you love music!

This is one inspired guy,he has more musical ideas than should fit on one song, but he crams them in anyway, some of it's Wow,others sound way to busy.In the 'country world' this guy must be what they consider an outsider,or too weird for their 'sanitized' radio ears,I would like to think that Sturgill will someday put out that 'country album' that will change their 'pop country' minds.

Didn't like the album at all, especially compared to Metamodern Sounds in Country Music. Musical arrangements were odd. I know he's different, and I expect different, but this was too far out for me.

I agree that this is Sturgill Simpson's best album to date. More cohesive. I love the songs to his son. That said, i dont like the arrangements, the strings are too schmaltzy and sometimes the horns obscure his already muddled singing. But i applaud his effort. It IS a good album; maybe i'm just not ready for it yet
