A good video viewing, though not overwhelming series. Decent mystery element to keep you guessing. Like another review said: character development had potential but through Season 3, not really developed. Haven't seen the "repeats" in Season 4 but that w/b disappointing as well.
Still recommend if you like the genre.

The DCI Banks series started in 2010 and to date has 32 episodes, all of them starring Peter Tompkinson as Banks. This is my first series viewing and I was impressed by the convolutions of these episodes. What the series lacks is anyone to relate to in a human way. By contrast, the Midsomer Murders series was easy to like the title characters. I would say the British sense of humanity and humor have very little contact with each other. Why do we watch cop shows? Because we want to see the bad guys caught and feel good about it. Here, in the Banks series, I only feel good that the episode has concluded.

This season 4 is really just a repeat of one of the other seasons. I waited for this and when I finally got it, there was only one new episode and (which I might have missed when televised) but the other two were repeats from a former season.???
