The most important person in a young girl&́#x80;™s life? Her father. That&́#x80;™s right &́#x80;“ and teen health expert Dr. Meg Meeker has the data and clinical experience to prove it. After more than twenty years of counseling girls, she knows that fathers, more than anyone else, set the course for their daughters&́#x80;™ lives. Now Dr. Meeker, author of the critically acclaimed Epidemic: How Teen Sex Is Killing Our Kids, shows you how to strengthen &́#x80;“ or rebuild &́#x80;“ your bond with your daughter, and how to use it to shape her life, and yours, for the better. Directly challenging the feminist attack on traditional masculinity, Dr. Meeker demonstrates that the most important factor for girls growing up into confident, well &́#x80;“ adjusted women is a strong father with conservative values. To have one, she shows, is the best protection against eating disorders, failure in school, STDs, unwed pregnancy, and drug or alcohol abuse &́#x80;“ and the best predictor of academic achievement, successful marriage, and a satisfying emotional life. Dads, you are far more powerful than you think you are. Your daughters need the support that only fathers can provide &́#x80;“ and if you are willing to follow Dr. Meeker&́#x80;™s advice on how to guide your daughter, to stand between her and a toxic culture, your rewards will be unmatched.

I enjoyed reading this book, as it offers fathers a look into many of the issues that daughters face while growing up that men never experience. It is a great way to get to know your daughter more. I can say that it improved my relationship with my daughter, because it helped me see just what kind of a role I play in her life. Men never understand what the impact of a father is on a daughter, because they have never been in that role. The expectation of men of their fathers is a different thing altogether.

While I felt that the author could have tried to leave out Christian content in favour of a more neutral perspective, I value her insight as a mother, a daughter and a female doctor.

I think that this book can help any father learn more about their daughter and the influences in society around their girl child. I recommend the book to any father of a daughter.

This is a MUST read for men raising daughters whether in a family unit or as a single father. Our society does not acknowledge the vital role the father plays in a girls development and throughout her life. Dr. Meeker's book places the father's leadership and guidance as a top priority. This is the perfect gift to give a new father of a daughter or at any point in her life. Hopefully, by the time she starts grade school. I can highly recommend this book for women with daughters as well.

Your daughter’s attitude toward herself comes directly from you. Her expectations, her ambitions, and her assessment of her own capabilities all come from what you believe- what you say and what you do. As a father, you have to ask yourself what sort of woman you want your daughter to become.
