The Arctic Code is the first engaging adventure in the Dark Gravity Sequence Trilogy. In Earth's near future, a new ice age is beginning, and much earlier than scientists were predicting. No one can seem to figure out what is going on, and the ice is creeping slowly over the globe. Energy is scarce, and refugees of the cold are everywhere. The biggest energy company is working with the UN to try to save humanity. Eleanor, a twelve year old girl from Arizona is the daughter of Dr. Perry, who works with one of the only other remaining energy companies. When her mom agrees to do a project north in Alaska, she goes missing after sending Eleanor some strange messages. It’s up to Eleanor to find her and figure out what’s really going on. Full of plot twists and action packed adventure, this book is a really great read. The characters are interesting and loveable, and develop as the story progresses. Eleanor is a very strong female lead with a knack for survival. While she does makes some bad decisions, she’s still quite the curious little girl. The entire series is definitely worth the time, and readers from elementary school and beyond will all enjoy Eleanor’s escapades! @tacoboutbooks of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

This light adventure is set at the beginning of what could humanity's end. I enjoyed following the characters as they discovered the story right along with me.
