The Prince: This was an amazing story written from the prince's perspective. I am, and will forever be, a Team Maxon member. From the first moment I met him, (through America's eyes) I knew he was the one for her. (The one, am I not punny?) Not that there is anything wrong with Aspen, it is simply the fact that he has never felt right. No, I am not shallow or looking just for Maxon's crown. I just really like the idea of a charming prince with good manners and a hidden humour streak in him. He is legitimately the ideal inner princess girl's dream. But we get to see what the perfect prince was thinking while meeting our favourite protagonist, America Singer! 5/5 stars.
The Guard: From Aspen's perspective, I guess things were kind of rough. He gets the girl he is in love with to sign up for a chance that could benefit her financially, but also damage the relationship between the two of them. But he chose to help "her" over "them," which means he has some selflessness. But when he broke up with her, it kind of ruffled my view on him. he may have done it as to protect her, in case they got caught. Maybe he put up the harder exterior to end it harshly in case America resisted against his efforts to keep them safer. I really hope that is what he was thinking, and it wasn't his cowardice of being rejected over a prince. But now, we get to see him as a royal Guard! 5/5 stars.

The Selection Series includes two novellas, The Prince and The Guard which are critical perspectives from two very important characters in the series; Aspen and Maxon. We see Aspen, the guard of the palace, who loved America and seeing her in the Selection just makes him realize how much he really loves her still. We see Maxon, who has loved in his life but sees something different and unique about America. He sees someone who isn’t willing to play on other people’s accords and ways just because of their status and life. We also get glimpses of other crucial characters like Maxon’s father, mother, and former loves. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I’m sure Selection fans will too.

These stories will help you rest easy after reading The Selction trilogy. If you're dying to know what Maxon and Aspen are feeling then check this out. These stories are a raw and realistic behind the scenes of what is going on in Maxon's mind when he seems uneasy, or if Aspen really is ready to risk his life for America time and time again. Maxon and Aspen's perspective of America, Illea, and the world around them, will help you understand their actions, while intensifying your love for the characters.

It was nice to get something from their perspectives, but it wasn't anything special for me.
