Over the years she was involved in a number of high profile cases, such as the abduction and murder of Kristen French and of Tori Stafford. Always taking care not to aggrandize the criminals whose names we may know, Kate feels it's much more important to focus on the courage of victims and their families. Really interesting read, especially since it's about local Ontario cases, familiar places. Pretty cool.

A fascinating and sometimes in depth insight into true crime, police work, behavioral sciences, forensics and details on how crimes are solved. We are taken through some famous Ontario cases solved in part to the dedication of this officer, Kate Lines, a women who excelled in a male dominated field. Her career took her from uniformed patrol officer to undercover assignments, drugs, fraud and a part of most of the major crimes in Ontario over the last 40 years.
She takes us through her remarkable career but without being sensational but rather with respect. Details of many high profile cases are included such as Christine Jessop, Bernardo and Homolka, David Snow (the Orangeville case), Ian and Nancy Blackmore (the Caledon case), Tori Stafford. Almost 50 pages are spent on these five cases.
The complexity and manpower involved in all these cases is truly remarkable and Lines clearly outlines how these cases proceeded and eventually solved, including the 40 year old cold case of Katherine May Wilson of Kirkland Lake. The author often shows the courage of the victims and their families. Well worth reading.
