Add a CommentGreat book about growing up deaf (from meningitis like me) and making friends.
What a fun book! I can see this book being read to preschoolers or kindergartners to give them some insight about people in the deaf community. Definitely recommend!
best book I've read just checked it out for the 5th time
I love this book so much
I'm so grateful that books like this—books that bring us new voices, books that teach empathy—exist. Read it with your kids or by yourself. It's well worth the time and you're sure to find some relatable bit of childhood in these pages.
I am a 6 year old who read this book. I really liked it. The girl Cece was a very nice person! The moral of the book is "Do not be shy, be courageous".
I recommend this book for ages 6 and higher.
I like the book.Because the girl in the book can not hear I feel sad for her

The book "El Deafo" was not very appealing to me.

I loved this graphic novel. What a privilege to get this perspective on Cece Bell's deaf experience in such a fun, engaging manner. I loved that some of the conflicts derived from Cece's audio and visual difficulties, but many also derived from her relationships, so there was a balance throughout. The comic book style was cute, but still dynamic and relatable.
