I was kind of disappointed with this book. It started off better than it ended. I just felt like they would be on topic A and move to topic B without any explanation on how we got there. Also the last 50 pages I was totally lost. Some parts I really enjoyed reading though, like the part where he got trapped in a cave and couldn't get out, for there was a bobcat in his way. I would only recommend this book to you if you wanted a book that doesn't stay on one topic for too long. Overall 3.5 stars ;)

Lynne Rae Perkins has a wonderful ability to write books that feel light without offering lightweight content. Breezy and fun escapades that contain plenty of danger and transformation without angst or anxiety. Deftly amusing phrasing, images, and voices that often disguise their wisdom. Admirable characters whose flaws make them all the more appealing. Silliness that never seems frivolous or mocking. Effortlessly accessible.

This one is about a group of squirrels made inadvertent heroes by unexpected circumstances, questing first to help each other and then their larger community. Squirrels are not the most linear, single-minded creatures ever, though, and Perkins draws on that to great comedic and problematic effect. She definitely must have spent a good deal of research time imagining what the world must be like from inside a squirrel's head, presenting it in a tale that is meaningfully fun.

Such a great tale about squirrels who face big challenges, change minds and complete the task and journey they set out to conquer! My 8 yr old loved it! I loved it! Great read.

If someone, your teacher maybe, ever asks you what "irony" or "being ironic" means, you can say it's when a squirrel says, "our friend, the hawk," and you will be right.

I tried to think whether I had ever had a great adventure. I decided that I had. It's all in how you look at it.
