Before you even think of buying this CD or borrowing it from the library, I suggest you go to the Salvation Army Thrift Shop and buy any 45 or 78 rpm record. I guarantee that whichever record you buy, no matter how scratchy, it will sound better than Neil Young's "A Letter Home". This idea of producing a tin-box recording is a complete disaster. What a travesty to do this to great songs like Phil Ochs' "Changes" and Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind".
The usual three-week rental period just got shortened to 30 minutes - the time it took for me to return this CD to the library.

"A Letter Home" is a disaster. In my opinion, as a long-time Neil fan, this is his worst effort. Why he thought anyone would want to hear a poorly produced album of covers - even if it was recorded as records were years ago - is truly baffling. I appreciate his creativity and his desire to try different genres and technology, but I wonder if he actually sat down and listened to the results of this particular release.

I've been an Neil Young fan for decades and this effort is a huge disappointment. Every track sounds the same and is devoid of life. I am glad I didn't buy it.
