The entire trilogy is amazing. You can't compare one to the other because they are all unique in their own way.

Maybe I just wasn't ready for this franchise to conclude, but this was my least favorite of the Christian Bale as Batman movies. I really appreciated the performances put in by Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy, but overall this story was just too bleak for me to really enjoy.

The final installment of Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy, "Rises" had the drawback of following what is now considered one of the biggest pictures in history, "The Dark Knight" (2008). With that said, where bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, "Rises" offers a much larger battle for the Bat against Bane and Gotham city's gangs. After appearing in Chris Nolan's "Inception" (2010), Tom Hardy achieves some of his earliest notoriety here portraying Bane. Where not eclipsing the Heath Ledger performance of the preivous film, the Bane character offers a combination of physical and mental strength not seen previously. Anne Hathaway, portraying Selina Kyle/Catwoman is easily the most effective - and best - of the female roles in any of the films since and including Burton's "Batman" (1989). Where the previous film is noted as more of a Ledger (Joker) picture, this one delves more into Bruce Wayne's psyche and weariness (battle scars intact), making this really Christian Bale's strongest piece in the trilogy. The film, overall, is really more brooding and darker than any thus far and with Gotham's future more bleak than ever, achieves the most emotionally-charged climax yet. Nolan's influences included the French Revolution and Charles Dickens' "A Tale of Two Cities" (1859), as well as more directly Frank Miller's Batman adaptated series, "The Dark Knight Returns" (1986).

Everybody likes Dark Knight best; I like Rises best. But in the end the entire trilogy is quite incomparable.

The Dark Knight rises is the grande finale! A must watch for Christian Bale fans!

Christian Bale does it again. Great movie!

While not quite as good as The Dark Knight, the final installment in the trilogy is still a great movie. Kind of sad it ends at only three films, as I would love to have seen Nolan and Bale tackle other villains down the road, like Red Hood, Deathstroke, or Owlman.

Weak film. I think Nolan was set up to make two movies and it was demanded of him to create a third. You can see where that gets you. Not quite as over-hyped as Inception, but it's fairly close. Don't waste your time. If you must, read or watch some spoiler review.

A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended.

There's a storm coming, Mr. Wayne. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act.
