Missy didn't mean to cut so deep. But after the party where she was humiliated in front of practically everyone in school, who could blame her for wanting some comfort? Sure, most people don't find comfort in the touch of a razor blade, but Missy always was . . . different. That's why she was chosen to become one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: War. Now Missy wields a new kind of blade--a big, brutal sword that can cut down anyone and anything in her path. But it's with this weapon in her hand that Missy learns something that could help her triumph over her own pain: control.A unique approach to the topic of self-mutilation, Rage is the story of a young woman who discovers her own power and refuses to be defeated by the world.

This was actually a really good book, I think I might buy this one.

This book is about a girl who struggles with self-hatred and self-injury. She secretly cuts herself with razors; when her secret is discovered when she is victim of a sadistic sexual prank. Kids in school label her “cutterslut” and “she had sliced her arms to ribbons, but the badness remained, staining her insides like cancer. She had gouged her belly until it was a mess of meat and blood, but she still couldn’t breathe.” I think only a very sick person would create a story like this. But worse, why would librarians/teachers push this kind of literature to minor children—most certainly behind their parents backs?!

I really liked the first one because the premise of the series is so unique, but this one followed the formula of the first so closely, that I was kind of bored. I do like the author's willingness to confront the darker side of teen life.
