Add a CommentA very inspirational story. I was fascinated by his account of being inside the World Trade Center on 9/11 and of his life growing up blind. Great book!
"Michael Hingson, a blind man who worked on the 78th floor of the World Trade Center's Tower One, was just getting to know his new guide dog, Roselle, when airliners crashed into the towers on September 11, 2001. Even though Michael and Roselle hadn't been together for very long, Michael completely trusted her as they walked down 1,463 stairs, counting all the way. As they went, the pair helped other people remain calm." Biography and Memoir December 2013 newsletter http://www.nextreads.com/Display2.aspx?SID=5acc8fc1-4e91-4ebe-906d-f8fc5e82a8e0&N=712601
Outstanding book. I read a lot of books and this one made my "A" list. A true story - I learned a lot about guide dogs, courage and dedication. No 'dry' time in this one.
Very easy to read, although the recollections of that day are horrific, the author breaks it up with flash backs during his early years with his guide dogs. Great read for animal lovers.
A heartwarming story about a blind man and his seeing eye dog, but also an amazing tale of how they escaped from one of the Twin Towers on 9/11.
