This documentary is presumably a companion to Prof. Michael D. Coe's book "Breaking the Maya Code" (1992). That book is a very accessible and highly readable account of the decipherment of Mayan hieroglyphics. Coe is the author of a number of books on the Mayans specifically, and on the Mesoamerican civilizations more broadly.
His later book, “Reading the Maya Glyphs” (2001) -- which I have not read -- is apparently a more scholarly account intended for linguists and other specialists, rather than the general reader.
This 54-minute documentary was made by David Lebrun in 2008 for the PBS programme "Nova". Lebrun, that same year, had made a 2-hour stand-alone documentary on the same subject. The long documentary is called “Breaking the Maya Code", just like Prof. Coe's book.

Very well done and interesting documentary movie. A pleasure to watch. I would recommend this movie for all to see. No fast forwarding no falling asleep on this one. A++ DVD

Fascinating history of decoding Maya writings. It's pity all Mayas books were destroyed, we could learn so much about their history
