-don't agree with everything Higgonet says, but I'm glad she doesn't mince words about just how reprehensible some of these collectors were. (She's much easier on the women than the men, though.) Lots of meaty stuff to ponder in this book about the collecting impulse and the character and function of museums of this kind. Can't wait to visit them!
