Part Ed Wood. Part serious sci-fi. Part Leave It to Beaver.

This film simply does not get the credit it deserves. Often written off as yet another cheesy '50s alien invasion movie, Invaders from Mars is SO much more. This is a brilliantly directed glimpse into one little boy's nightmare, as his parents and almost everyone else around him seems to become overtaken by Martian body-snatchers, and maybe even worse - no one believes him! This is a genuinely terrifying and nightmarish descent into madness that left me with chills days after watching it. Look past the some of the corny acting and dialogue and focus on the real psychological meat of this film, because there is a lot to mull over here.

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.
