Add a CommentJames Mercer (the Shins) + Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley) = super catchy supergroup!
Broken Bells performed And I Love Her on David Letterman and I was hooked. This CD has been my Broken Bells 101 introduction to this awesome band. I haven't stopped listening to it. Next, I'm onto After the Disco.
As good as, if not better than the "other" Danger Mouse side gig, Gnarls Barkley.
One of my favorite albums. Sort of electronic and poppy at times. James Mercer and DangerMouse are both geniuses. I would definitely recommend it!
Boring!
I quite enjoyed this CD. Broken Bells is a 'super group' of sorts, consisting of one of the lead guys from the Shins and Danger Mouse. I really like the Shins so that probably helped a bit. The disc is a bit melodic but many songs are very catchy. At least half the songs are excellent but some of the latter ones are a bit slow. Still, definately worth a few listens to if this type of quirky, quieter alternative rock is your thing. Not that dissimilar to the Flaming Lips, Grizzly Bear, or even the XX.
Just plain bad!
