They live on the shadowy border between the possible and the impossible--ancient life-forms known as mushi. Rare is the individual who can see them, but those with that special ability, the mushishi, can counter the creatures' deadly effects on humans. After a young boy is orphaned in the forest, he is saved by a reclusive female mushishi. But the lake near the mushishi's home holds a deadly secret, and the boy must find out what it is before his only friend is lost forever.

Beautiful. Once again Urushibara showers us with his beautiful single stroke artwork and deep original stories. This volume contains 5 chapters, each a separate story that follows the journey of Ginko and the people he helps out that are titled:

The cry of rust
From the ocean's edge
The heavy seed
White living in the inkstone
The fish gaze

My favorite chapter is the last one where we finally get to know a bit more about Ginko, or should I say... (read it to find out!)

-Ceremonial Master: "Within this land lie the flesh and blood of our ancestors!" ... "To us... this is our one source of pride!"

-Ginko-san: "And in that land you planted a foreign substance. Isn't that polluting the very land you take pride in?"

chapter: The Heavy Seed
