Moose and the cons are about to get a lot closer in this much-anticipated sequel to NEWBERY HONOR Al Capone Does My Shirts

It's 1935. Moose Flanagan lives on Alcatraz with his family, the other families of the guards, and a few hundred no-name hit men, con men, mad dog murderers and a handful of bank robbers too. And one of those cons has just done him a big favor.

You see, Moose has never met Al Capone, but a few weeks ago Moose wrote a letter to him asking him to use his influence to get his sister, Natalie, into a school she desperately needs in San Francisco. After Natalie got accepted, a note appeared in Moose's freshly laundered shirt that said: Done.

As this book begins, Moose discovers a new note. This one says: Your turn. Is it really from Capone? What does it mean? Moose can't risk anything that might get his dad fired. But how can he ignore Al Capone?

I've read the first one, and am now going to start the third one. I just loved the first, and the second was just as good, and I was glad that Al Capone had a slightly bigger part in the book. Once I started reading, I couldn't put the book down until I finished.

This book was exiting and had some cliff hangers. In the first 10 pages I was already into tis book. I loved the characteristics of each and every character.

What a great sequel. I enjoyed going back to the island and engaging with these characters again. I thought the advancement of the plot was great and it was so cool when we actually got to meet Al Capone. For a middle grade book, this has some hard topics such as forgiveness, death of parents, Autism and friendships. I thought it handled those topics appropriately and well, especially within the context of the story. I'm also a fan of these characters and how they interact with one another. They have their own arcs and personalities and I seriously want a movie. I just do.

My only problem was this one seemed to drag a little more than the first one. The climax was great and once it happened, I could appreciate the build up more but getting to that point was a chore sometimes. Overall though, I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the third one.
