Good story but weird at times.

This book reminds me of "Big Fish." It tells the journey of many intertwined lives that have to bare much more sorrow than joy, but there are whimsical elements woven throughout. Not as far fetched whimsy as in "Big Fish," but more hopefulness for a happier life.

This was a great book. It was very well written and thought provoking on many different subjects. The perfect sister did not get the perfect life. The "abnormal" sister turned out to be a really cool person, despite all the cruelty she had to endure. It was an amazing exploration of the themes of cruelty, betrayal, guilt, assisted suicide and homophobia as well as acceptance, compassion, friendship and love.

An interesting novel about a woman who has been told she was strange her entire life. Based in a small town, Truly must deal with her family obligations amid their teasing and try to find happiness in herself. Ultimately, she must learn to love herself before she can forgive those who tried to make her life miserable. There is mystery and love both in this book, and the story nicely wraps up both of these themes in the end. A satisfying read!

A bit weird in places, but otherwise well-written with the characters interwoven really well. Basically a nice story....

What a great little story. Made me think how much one's appearance can limit them from pursuing their dreams.

What a wonderful read! Fantastic characters, great characterization of life in a small town and a bit of witchcraft thrown in! I highly recommend!

I enjoyed this book very much. There was a timeless quality about it - like a fairy tale. I had to very often shake my head to remember it was taking place in today's world and not the 19th century.
