This is a 2006 book that explains the connection between life on the planet and the ocean that produced it and on which all species depend. Way back then, the ocean coral reefs were 80% gone in the Caribbean and 5% gone at the Great Barrier Reef. Seems like things are moving fast because now in 2014 GBReef is 40% gone.( it is the size of Finland). Time to wake up

It's common knowledge that our oceans aren't doing well, this book explains why in a very easy to read way. No need to be a scientist, we can all understand how animals eating plastic can only be a bad thing for our environment. Lots of information that will make you think about how you live your life and the products you consume.

Serving suggestion: organic, locally grown salad and roasted vegetable stir fry.

Excellent overview of the state of the global ocean. The author does a great job of conveying the issues in plain English and making a human connection with the scientists behind the research. A passionate plea for humanity to start caring about the ocean, and highly recommended by this SCUBA diver and ocean nerd!
