So many FEELS! I should have known it wasn't going to be a simple 1 subject plot about a strained relationship between mother and daughter, but I wasn't quite expecting one book to cover mental health issues, divorce, intergenerational family relationships. It's a worthy read, but just be prepared for an emotional ride. The storytelling and pace was great and the characters were realistic and relateable.
It is my opinion that this book was excellent. Grace Monroe was behind the wheel, driving back from a party with her mother Deborah, in the pouring rain, when she hit a man who was running along the side of the road. Both ladies claim not to have seen the man. There was no one around so Deborah told Grace to run home and act like she had been there all along and that she, Deborah, would take the blame. After a lengthy investigation, amid other twists and turns in the story,it was found out that the man had been very intoxicated and was trying to get killed.
Interesting story of a mother-daughter relationship after a tragedy. Other family dynamics also in play. Good ending, probably not what you were expecting!
