The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Tartan --- By Iain Zakzek and Charles Phillips. This book featuring oversized pages is just over 250 pages long. Divided into two segments, the first providing the reader with a good grounding in Scottish history; the second giving an inventory of a wide selection of Scottish tartans, who wears them and their and their clan’s history. Well written, well organized and highly readable, you may wish to read the whole book from beginning to end, but you need not do so. Each of the historical units in the first half of the book can be just as easily read on its own. If there’s a wee drop of Scottish blood in ye you’ll want to read this book.
