Way underrated highly innovative one-of-a-kind album. Totally different from anything they had ever done. IMHO Friends is the best and most complex track on it.
I like most of the songs on this CD - Especially Tangerine, Gallows Pole, and Immigrant Song.
Released in 1970 - Led Zeppelin III is arguably one of this band's absolute best where, along with all the heavy metal that prevailed, a more toned-down, acoustic sound was taken with a number of the songs. And I must say that the result was quite refreshing.
III gets a bad wrap... It's partially Zeppelin Unplugged but it still packs some punch and has some nice gems (Favs: Immigrant Song, Out On The Tiles, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp)
definitive heavy metal band
Unquestionably one of the most enduring bands in rock history Led Zeppelin reached new heights of commercial and critical success that made them one of the most influential groups of the era. Led Zeppelin III is a more acoustic style that is strongly influenced by folk and Celtic music, and showcased the band's versatility. Unbeatable ...
Originally released in October, 1970 - Led Zeppelin III was initially met with plenty of negative reviews from people who were, of course, expecting more heavy metal, "Whole Lotta Love" type songs from these four talented dudes.
Listening to this finely-crafted album today, forty-four years later, with its emphasis on more folk & acoustic sounds, it is actually quite refreshing, in the long run, if you give it a fair enough chance.
Out of the ten tracks on this vintage CD, three of my very favourite tunes are - "Immigrant Song", "Tangerine" and "Gallows Pole".
