Rolling Home ----- by Tom Allen. This very readable book, which might be called whimsical, amusing, or what might once have been called laid-back follows our author as he voyages across Canada from Halifax to Montreal. Another trip takes him from Montreal to Vancouver via Montreal (with a slight detour for Toronto’s subway). To make his voyage complete there are two side trips: to Churchill Manitoba and Prince Rupert BC. This is a story about the train; about the people on the train both those who work there and those who travel. This is a story about Prairie sunsets and New Brunswick forests; this is a story about tall city buildings and the open tundra; this is a story about whistle-stops and grand railway stations. This is a story about high-speed running and a slow jaunt on the Malahat. The book engages and amuses. This is a book that is relaxing as the trip by train itself. This is a book about binding the country and a story of neglect.

A very human and alive look at Canada. Fun, beautiful and a great read for those of us who never will have the luxury of the time and fortune to see Canada.
