Add a Quote" "Real isn't how you are made," said the skin horse. "It's a thing that happens to you...it doesn't happen all at once. You become. It takes a long time. Generally by the time you are Real, most of your fur has been loved off, and your eyes drop out, and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these don't matter at all because once you are Real you can't be ugly except to people who don't understand." "

Add a CommentThis picture book is very exciding, but I have read this book 10 times and every time I cry because of the scene when the velveteen rabbit has to get thrown away, but in the end it gets resolved.
I read this to my 8 year old. There were pictures and he was able to follow along with the story.
No illustrations. A complete travesty for this book. The story is great, though.
Timeless classic!!!
