Little Black Sambo is about a young boy in India. Black Sambo and his parents are returning from the marketplace and he receives a red coat, blue trousers, a green umbrella, and purple shoes. The tigers in the story are vain and are always competing on who looks the best. The tigers pull at Sambo's clothing with their teeth, but Sambo does not become frightening. He just keeps walking proud with his new clothes on. While walking along in the forest Sambo meets a tiger that states that he is going to eat Sambo, but Sambo makes a deal with the tiger and ends up giving the tiger all of the clothing he just received from his mother so that Sambo is not eaten. He appears to be a hero and he continues to walk away not concerned about the tigers. I would recommend this book because the book has a message of not becoming involved or consumed with material objects, and just being content with what you have even if you have to give it away so that you are not eaten by a tiger.
