3.75 | I just can’t bring myself to bring it to 4 stars. I just feel like it really drags on. The world building was insanely good! I’m sorry the story didn’t totally give with me though.

I haven't read Pierce since middle school and I was a little nervous that the writing wouldn't live up to my memory. I've found a lot of YA novels aren't usually as good as I remember since I'm reading them as an adult, BUT that was not…

Readers who liked Numair Salmalín before will learn to love him even more, now. Young Arram Draper is just as compassionate, brilliant, and powerful as the great mage he eventually grows up to be. This story is a long awaited in-depth look…

For some reason this book did not capture me the same way other Pierce books have in the Tortall universe. I struggled with feeling motivated to read the book, I appreciate the attempt to expand the universe even further but I found the…

I waited many years for this book and I couldn't have been happier with the end results. If you have read any of the other series in the Tortall Universe then you know Numair (Arram)! He is a brilliant character and I was so happy to see…

I've been waiting over a decade for this book, and it didn't disappoint! Little Arram is completely recognizable as the precursor to the intelligent, focused, and charming adult that we first met in "The Immortals Quartet." Both those of…

I loved this book so much! I'm terribly biased, because I'm a huge Tamora Pierce fan, but I thought this was an excellent addition to her works. "Tempests and Slaughter" follows Arram Draper (known to Tortall fans as Numair Salmalin)…

I'm so happy to be back in Pierce's world. There are a ton of things that I could connect, or place, as it's been a while since I read the other books set in this world, but it's still very enjoyable as a stand alone.

This book was a good start to a new trilogy, but it doesn't really survive well on its own. I am looking forward to the rest of the trilogy. Note: I enjoyed this book more after I realized its connection to the Immortals quartet. I would…

Ever since reading the Immortals series by Tamora Pierce, I have wanted to know more about Dane's husband, Numair. Now I've gotten my wish. I loved this book and can't wait for the next one. Tamora Pierce is one of my favorite authors…
