Tell the wolves that I disliked this book! There are numerous issues with the narrative – teenage girls engaging and sneaking away with adult men and being told not to tell their parents about it (groomer behaviour much!!) Grown men…

I guess something to take into consideration with my review is I generally do not like fiction. This book I liked throughout, but the ending ruined it for me. There were multiple characters I did not like during the course of the book, and…

One of the best books I've read in a long time. There is an underlying tone of grief, conflict and teen angst but the author masterfully weaves her way through a unique and engaging story. After becoming familiar with the characters I…

American author Carol Rifka Brunt's first book, Tell The Wolves I'm Home, was released by Random House in 2012. It focuses on June Elbus, a 14-year-old girl who lost her gay uncle to AIDS in the 1980s. I liked this book due to the…

I loved this story. I loved the way it was written. It seemed so true and gentle. I read a lot of books each week and don't remember them. This book I will remember and how well it was written and all the details. Love. Loved it.

This was a well written story although the editor missed several errors with verb tense going from past tense to present tense. Some errors were within the same sentence. After a while, these grammatical errors began to bother me and…

I'm always a sucker for quirky, one-of-a-kind characters, and imaginative, medieval times-obsessed June definitely falls into this category. The writing is what really makes this novel shine for me. The plot highlights the tensions and…

I was thirteen in 1987, so the pop culture references and the general fear and misunderstanding of AIDS of the time felt very familiar. I loved the complexity of the characters and the writing style. I highly recommend this book.

This is a story about jealousy, how jealousy poisons our loves and lives when left unchecked. Set in the 1980s, 14-year-old June is left alone in the world when her uncle, the only person she felt understood her, dies of AIDS. She soon…

The best story I've read all year, maybe in 10 years. The emotion described among the various members of this family in crisis is palpable - so well done. Highly recommended for young and old alike.

I really liked this book. The 14-year old character has tons of depth. Sometimes younger main characters in non-YA novels can get a bit sappy. Not June! I loved the relationship between the characters. I would recommend this definitely.

Astounding character development carries this novel from end to end. Worth the read just for the dynamics of the various relationships.
