Wanted to like this movie more, but it has dark undertones for a kids film.

This free spirited little boy goes too far, then travels to a make believe land where he could be eaten, there he has to deal with his radical behavior.

A moody, intriguing adaptation of Sendak's classic picture book. Not as light hearted and fun as the book, and it may not appeal to most kids, but still worth the watch from a nostalgic point of view.

Visually stunning. It's like some gorgeous, dreamy visual dessert. The acting, costumes, music, and dialogue are all above par. But, make no mistake, despite it being based on a children's story: This movie is not for kids. I'm not…

This film is vivid in my childhood memories as it is a drama/fantasy film that is nostalgic to many. Max is a young boy who feels lonely and misunderstood, so he escapes to where the Wild Things are and soon finds himself to be their king.…

Movie felt sad and depressing and somber. I think the book is kinda fun and lighthearted, so it was not at all the same. I wouldn't recommend the movie for kids either.

This DVD didn't work at all. It needs to be replaced.

A waste of time. Although I didn’t fast forward this movie, I keep waiting for something meaningful to happen that never came. Lot’s of dark humour but still not enough. Don’t bother with this movie.

One of the "Where the wild things are" DVD copies DOES NOT WORK at all.

This is a tough one to rate. Although it is really interesting and full of interesting undertones and psychological symbolism (all of the monsters represented different aspects of Max's psyche), it was not what I (or I think anyone)…

People are so quick to condemn something that is unique and complex. I think this is a magical film that captures the spirit of the book and Sendak himself. If you want to learn more please watch the documentary "Tell Them Anything You…

I did not like this movie at all. It has some very dark setting and extremely dark characters.

Bunch of random stuff happening. No story line really, just a hap-hazard movie. Expected more as I read the book when I was little. But it wasn't like the book at all. It was really lame, camera was jerky for no reason at all (normally…

To the people wondering what went wrong with this film: Maurice Sendak, the writer of the book which this was based on, also worked on this film. He approved what Dave Eggers came up with as an interpretation of his story. So when you say…

As a fan of the book & Spike Jonze it's hard to express how disappointed I was with this. Bad acting, script, & plot can't be saved by reasonably acceptable cinematography & costuming. Couldn't sit through more than half.

2nd time watching, it still makes me cry buckets. It's gorgeous, visually, and different from any movie I've ever seen.

I am really surprised at all these comments. Apparently people want to dumb down their kids and make things simple and happy for them. That ain't life. This is an excellent movie.

the people rating this really need to lighten up. they are complete idiots. this is a good film. it is NOT a childrens film, it is a film about childhood. confusing, emotional, and magical.

I can't quite figure out what age group this film is aimed at. I think that younger children (5-7-year-olds, for instance) would find it both terrifying and overly abstract. As an adult, I often found it visually understimulating (all…

ATTENTION PARENTS. Don't show young children this movie unless you want them to have long lasting nightmares. I'm a pretty liberal dad, even let my 4yr old watch Spiderman and Avatar, but here's the difference. Those are clear 'he's a good…
